Chicken pox

I was rather surprised at today's "tip" encouraging you not to avoid people with chicken pox. I just want to point out that chicken pox is not always very mild. My boys had it last summer, ages 1 and 3, so relatively young - it's supposed to be easier. And they were both utterly miserable, and quite ill, with high fevers etc., for quite some time. We knew we had been exposed, so avoided contact with others before the spots even appeared, and then the illness lasted so long, it felt like it completely wiped out the summer. It was an 'ideal' time for us - we didn't miss any major events or any school or nursery time, but if I had deliberately exposed them at that time I would have felt dreadful at inflicting that upon them.

So you may want to think again before deliberately putting your child through this.

I have a bit of a dilema. My son has chicken pox spots appeared tuesday diagnosed Thursday. He was feeling really sick so has been at home porrly since last saturday so no contact with world outside..IT DOES STILL EXIST DOESNT IT.

Anyway, my dilema is we are due to go to visit my best friend in Finland on Wed. We fly and stay in hotel that night and then travel to their home for the thur. THey texted me today with details and I dont a)know what to decide b) if I do stay at hoem dont want to let them down at last minute.
ITs my friends birthday on the friday but she also has a little girl I need to concern myself with.

My son has spots at present. But he is much better in himself. SOme are scabbing over but not all of them yet. WHAT DO I DO?

Do you think he will be still contagious next wed? I am almost certain he will be happy enough to travel as he is tearing round the house as we speak.

I can change my flight 12 hrs before it is due to leave but we wont be able to go for another month!

ADVICE PLEASE..I need to let my friends know whats happening

Hi, after some advice.
My 5 yr old DS has had an on/off temperature for 6 days, off food, swollen gland in neck, was complaining of achy legs a few days before this. Has been off school since Tuesday last week, saw GP on Friday he said it could be upper respiratory Infection or possibly Chicken pox (has been going round his class) and to see how he is over the weekend. The first day he was ill he had a high temperature (39.4) and looked poorly but since then the temperature seems to go during the day and comes on early evening and sometimes first thing in the morning. As no spots have appered am wondering if this is not chicken pox - wouldn't he have the spots by now?
thanks

How long does it take for all the spots to come out? Does anyone know I'm on day 2 now and my daughter had 23 so far is she likely to be covered or not???
