Cardiology appointment brought forward as urgent?

I visited GP in May as had some palpitations.
I had Cardiology appointments in the past, also had Echos and Holters monitor in the past with nothing much significant found ( I have leaky valves but this was always dismissed as very minor and non significant)
Anyway in the May GP referred me to Cardiologist again.
My first phone appointment was in September and the consultant agreed to Holter and a Echo scan.
The Echo scan was done 2 weeks ago and when it was done I asked if anything was wrong, the radiologist said nothing serious from her point of view, however she said the consultant will examine the scan images and would let me know on a scheduled Cardiology phone appointment booked for a middle of January.
On Monday this week I received a letter saying that this booked January appointment was cancelled and new one will be given..
Now my Holter monitor test is happening now for a week and when I went for the fitting last Wednesday I noticed that on the form it says that my new cardiology appointment is now on 9th of January- brough forward for about 4 days earlier than originally scheduled and it has URG letters written next to it.
I did not ask about it until I started thinking of it and it made me worried that they must have seen something concerning on that Echo scan I had two weeks ago?
Would a appointment almost a month away count as urgent?
Now I wear the Holter monitor and got into worrying that something must be seriously wrong with my heart if marked as urgent..
Anyone has any opinion of this or I just panic for nothing?

I think you have probably been just given a cancellation as let's face it, it's not that soon. Your stress of all of this will be affecting how you feel too . I had issues like this at one point and was sent to hospital directly with instructions for my H to pull over and call an ambulance if they got worse. All checks were done including an angiogram on a later day and all was OK. Regarding the URG they always triage people based on what they perceive. Next time just ask and I'm sure they will tell you.Are you very stressed?

It's only a 4 day difference and URG may stand for something else?

mum's had a couple of urgent cardiology things and she got a phone call as it was more "come in asap".

I would think the ‘urgent’ marking may just refer to it being an appointment that shouldn’t be postponed.

A handful of days seems irrelevant to the urgency/severity of the situation.

All just my opinion - but if I were you, I wouldn’t be worried. 🙂

Thankyou. I phoned them in the morning and they said there is no any cardiac appointment booked for me at all for the 9th.
The said they can see the the cancellation but new one wasn’t made yet, so I’m even more confused..

In cardiology if they’re worried they do it asap, because, let’s face it, your heart goes pop it’s an emergency. If they were worried they would be seeing you within a couple of days, if not sooner.

I think generally things that are picked up on an echo aren’t usually huge emergencies, but are structural things that may or may not need fixing. My cardiac procedures have usually been very rapid, and the only waiting times have been waiting for heart tissue to recover enough for more interference.
