Could it be ear wax?

Just wondered if anyone had suffered from this in one ear.

So I woke this morning to a constant bussing noise in my right ear. A bit like the noise your fridge makes if you leave the door open too long.
Hearing ok-ish in that ear but difficult with the constant buzzing.
No giddiness.
Left ear fine.
I've never needed to have either ear de-waxed.
Not used headphones or been to a gig recently.

Thought it might be ear wax so popped in some olive oil - has muffled the sound nicely but it's still there.

I've tried my local audiologists to check out if it is ear wax and of course none work at the weekend.
Boots told me to come back on Monday.
Specsavers on Wednesday but also suggested I see a GP as it might be the start of tinnitus.
I found his faith that I might be able to see a GP at a bloody weekend quite sweet really.

My plan is to go into Boots on Monday to get someone to look in my ears. If it's not ear wax then I'll head to my GPs surgery & see if I can get an appointment before 2024...
I can consider a private audiologist if needs be.

So has anyone had this in just one ear only?

I had something like this and was referred to hospital audiologist by GP Nurse after checking for wax and not finding any. They tested my hearing and now I have hearing aids. Mine was a gradual thing, though, not sudden.

No point seeing a GP for tinnitus unless it's to ask for a referral to audiology. You could ask for a nurse appointment and they could check for wax/blockage.
