Anyone else just can't sleep because mind wont stop?

Is this normal and does it happen to others.

Every night I go through the same thing, I cant sleep. I end up putting off going to bed until I can feel my eyes tired and even then I can't sleep until 1 hour or so after getting into bed.

My mind won't stop, I can't seem to have any control over it and it will just think about lots of random things. So I try and ignore the thoughts and a few minutes later I realise I have just gone into detail thinking about this and that.

My DH is out within seconds and I wish I could do the same. If anyone has had any similar experiences or some advise would be lovely!

Hi! I have same problem. I have a GP appointment next week to discuss it.
In my case, I think it is due to stress and anxiety (lot of turmoil at the moment) and a lack of exercise due to injury and illness. Hope you get to sleep soon. I am listening to soothing music.

Me too. Think it's menopause related. Pisses me off!

Yup. I've had insomnia periodically since my teens and I'm yet to find anything that really can combat it when it strikes. Bloody annoying - but I'm now quite awed by what I can achieve on zero sleep.

LBFseBrom · 09/12/2022 02:29

Yes. It's not the menopause for me, I'm too old for that :-). It often happens and always has. I watch things on TV, come on here, listen to relaxing youtube music videos for overthinking, have things to eat......sometimes that works, sometimes not. My son is the same. It's OK if I feel reasonably well and have nothing much to do early the next day.

I listen to podcasts to stop me thinking about "stuff". DH goes out like a light. It's so annoying.
