Weight loss and worried sick

Just writing on here to see if anyone has been in a similar position. I had a baby 11 months ago and since then I've been losing weight. Also had really bad stomach and diarrhoea (particularly the last 4 months). I cut out gluten about 1 month ago and my bowels have got better but still get the occasional bad stomach. Also been getting pains and nawing pains in upper stomach intermittently.
I've lost weight. I lost the 2.5 stone I gained in pregnancy plus another 1.7 stone. I was 84kg pre pregnancy and now I'm 73kg (I'm 5 foot 9) . Still classed as a healthy weight.
The things that have changed is that I've been exclusively breast feeding for 11 months and my baby has cmpa so I am dairy free. The weight loss has escalated since I became gluten free as well.
I've got a phone appointment with the GP tomorrow.
I'm just worried sick, I'm 26, I always think the worst.

It might be the breastfeeding. I kept losing weight towards the end of my baby's first year of life and hot extremely worried about it too. A 1 year old can drink as much if not more breastmilk compared with a newborn. That's 500 calories a day / 2,500 a week without you lifting a finger.

Jumped on here to say it may be due to breastfeeding also. When I had my daughter, I lost sooo much weight and was much smaller than pre-pregnancy even. I lost the weight very fast also. Within a few months I dropped about 3 stone.

Thanks @ichundich @Spacebears for your messages! That's really interesting! Did you gain it back when you stopped breast feeding? Some days he feeds loadsss as well and he's a big boy. It could well be breast feeding. I'm also dairy free too which is a lot a fat cut out. I've got to weigh myself weekly. X

Yes, I gained it all back (plus some extra unfortunately). But whilst breastfeeding I used to eat a packet of chocolate digestives a day in addition to my meals 🙈. Perhaps try and eat more calorific foods such as nuts, oily fish, full far yoghurt, fillet steak, etc.

Yes. I gained it all back when I stopped. I didn't gain it back fast though. It took me about a year and a half to gain it back. But yes the weight loss was very significant at first and happened very fast. I didn't even occur to me to be worried at the time as I did read somewhere when you're breastfeeding you can lose up to 500 extra calories a day. But yeah definitely get checked out.

Hi, if it helps to know, I lost quite a bit of weight after both my pregnancies, especially after DD. I didn't expect it at all, but think it was a combination of breastfeeding, not eating as much junk, not drinking alcohol and living off nervous energy. Once I stopped breastfeeding and started drinking wine, it started to creep back on...but five years after my second DC, I'm still not the weight I was pre DC.

Obviously do get checked out for peace of mind...but sometimes I think breastfeeding can help you lose weight. And I was eating normally and indulging in full fat everything!

Just seen other replies sorry...so it does seem breastfeeding burns the calories (and if you're dairy free, even more so).
