Eczema and spot

I've developed sore, flaky cracked skin behind both my ears which I've been treating with sudocreme. It's not improving and is very sore, so I went to the pharmacist this morning. He said he thinks it's eczema and sold me some cetreben cream.

During the course of today I've developed an acne type spot on one of my ears. It's hot, sore and throbbing (but no head). I can feel it on both the front and back of my ear, but the back of the ear is much worse. The back of the ear side of the spot (if that makes sense) is under the scaly, sore patch of eczema.

I think it's fair to say this is the most painful spot I've ever had. It's throbbing, burning and really, really sore. Normally I'd encourage a head to come up with hot compress and then pop with a clean pin, but I don't think that will work given the eczema.

Any suggestions on how to relieve the pain, would be really, really appreciated!

  1. sudocrem dries out eczema and will have made it worse.

  2. Cetraben is very thick so may have clogged a pore and caused the spot.

  3. get some hydrocortisone steroid on the dry bits and they'll go away then apply a non comodogenic moisturiser/emollient to keep them not dry through the cold months.

Personally I'd pop it because I'm a demon for spots but could be best to leave and power through on the spot. Clean it with a toner and then put an oil on it (squalene is good). Every night. This helped my spots before.

If it's a boil you might need a doctor.

For reference, I am not a healthcare worker so this is entirely my experience as someone who's had severe eczema their whole life including on ears. Again an anecdotal recommendation not professional advice.

Thank you! I don't think the cetraben could've caused the spot so quickly - I think it's a coincidence.

I feel like a hot compress would help, but worried that might aggravate the eczema....

Oh - and I'll try to get some hydrocortisone tomorrow
