Leg tingles after c section / blood thinners

Hi, I had a c section 2 weeks ago, it ended up with me losing quite a lot of blood and I had a transfusion and I am on iron tablets now. I also had fragmin injections for the last 2 weeks. I have had a pins and needles/tingly feeling in my leg for 3 days now it comes and goes how strong it is and it's sometimes a little warm feeling with muscle spasms, I spoke to the nurse yesterday who didn't seem concerned as she said as long as it's not hot and throbbing but to me it's not right, I am going to call on Monday again but just wondered if anyone else had this after a c section or taking blood thinners. It's just strange how it's almost two weeks after. Not sure how it will ease off but I'm concerned it's a blood clot or nerve damage that will just keep getting more severe.

Has your B12 been checked? I became deficient after pregnancy and c section and one of my symptoms was tingly/pins and needles in arms and legs

I was going to say b12 as well. I haven’t had a section but I have b12 deficiency and you have described my legs

When you say muscle spasms - do you mean cramping where it’s actually the muscle, or is it kind of a reflex thing where leg kicks out randomly.

I say the latter because I had nerve damage post c. Included tingling, general range of strange sensations and what some would describe as spasms but were actually more reflex based.

Thankfully was one of the lucky/unlucky ones with temporary damage. Permanent is exceedingly rare.

What does it feel like exactly - and where? Always the same place, moves around etc?

And don’t panic just yet re. Nerve damage.

The nerves go to sleep for 12 weeks. So all the weird spasms I was told where my body remapping what the nerves do/ don’t etc. And that’s why it moved around all the time randomly.

Only after 12 weeks does it get a bit more worrying.

Not saying to ignore this. You should go and get it checked by the hospital who did your c section for nerve assessment and anything else going on. Don’t be fobbed off. But don’t panic it’s permanent either IYSWIM.

I think I'll need to ask about the B12 as I might need to top that up. Not had blood taken since I was in the hospital.

The muscle spasms are very sparse and more like a band round my leg, it seems to have eased off today so I'm hoping the iron tablets are helping.

You have to stop taking B12 supplements before you get it tested or it will be falsely high. If you're on Facebook join the 'Vitamin B12 wake up' group it's been so helpful for me lots of info about testing and test results
