(In anticipation of dd1 and ds catching chickenpox form their sister who is now on the mend.. how strict were you, once they started feeling better? Strictly at home until all spots had definitely dried up, or sneaked visits to the playground, shops etc.?

they avoided school and people till the blisters were ALL scabbed up.

luckily, we live in a rural area with plenty of deserted beaches for fresh air.

ds3 is covered in blisters ATM and I HAD to take him out...ds1+2 would still be at school otherwise!!

ChasingSquirrels · 31/01/2008 21:33

we went to the playground (never anyone there) and the shops. Not sneaked visits.

islandofsodor · 31/01/2008 21:35

We didn't go anywhere except grandparents house. Poor dd had them just before the Christams and missed loads of stuff, Christmas parties, the nativity she was supposed to take part in etc. Dh took ds to the nativity whilst I stayed at home with dd so I missed ds's first "performance"

ChasingSquirrels · 31/01/2008 21:36

oh, agree that I wouldn't have taken them to parties and performances etc.

Yes, I had to take dd2 out for the schoolrun too, but otherwise have kept her in - and parked her in the buggy as far away from the gate as I could without deserting her... Which was OK-ish, but I can see us all getting a bit claustrophobic if the other 2 have it. Unfortunately I live in town, although the parks are pretty much deserted at the moment.. Mmm,

My two both had chicken pox at the same time at the end of summer term last year. Neither of them had any other symptoms except the spots. It was imperative that we went out before I started opening the wine before 11am. Like Expat I live in a rural coastal area so we settled on a quiet corner of the beach most days and dug our way to Oz.

summersun06 · 31/01/2008 21:42

I was told to keep DD in until spots had dried up and I did.

julen · 31/01/2008 21:44

Oh blink, I knew we should have started looking at moving to a place with lots of empty country earlier..

Lol. It does have its uses, but I can't get Ocado to deliver here so....

julen · 31/01/2008 21:50

Ah yes, that's a drawback. Then again, I was going to bring my seeds to have a veg garden and do a what was that tv series again, the one with the aspiring to self-sufficient lifestyle couple next to the luxury golf playing Ocado deliveries couple..?

I'm the gin swiller next door.

Ah, that's where I will be sneaking off to then under cover of darkness...!
