P.o.t.s syndrome help....

So... I went to the hospital with chest palpatations over the weekend which I'd been with over 3 times in the last 8 months. . .

I was told I had to stay as my heart was racing as I stood up... ECG was normal .. blood tests for my hear were also normal. They diagnosed p.o.t.s....
My worse symptom which is confusing me is palpatations when I lie down... Like lastnight I had a viciously pumping heart from when I went to bed at 10pm till I finally managed to get to sleep at around 2am.
This doesn't seem to be a symptom of p.o.t.s online... More palpatations on standing.
Can anyone put my mind at rest? Or help at all if you struggle with the same thing??

Yes, POTS can cause palpitations at other times, and bedtime is a common one.

Did you see an autonomic specialist? There are a few conditions that cause symptoms similar to POTS, so these havebto be ruled out.

This is a good source of information:

Oops, “have to be ruled out”

It sounds like they ruled out heart problems, which is a good start.

Sorry I have only just realised someone answered me...I really appreciate it.
I am due for a 48hr monitor at the end of the month... Also now noticed palpatations seem alot worse the week before and during my period.... Is this also common?
Thanks again for answering. 😁 X

Did this come on in the immediate months after Covid OP?? It's absolutely rife it seems on all the long covid Facebook support groups. Every other person seems to have developed it. The usual thing is beta blockers, compression socks and a bit more salt so it seems.

Access that pots link. It’s full of good advice.
it’s a dysautonimia where the rest and digest part of your nervous system is not working as well. A lot of people report palpitations waking them up at night.

conservative manager is drinking 3 litres fluid/ day and making sure you have enough salt in your diet. (Assuming no other chronic diseases like heart or kidney problems)After that it’s medication.
the only good thing about pots is that as it’ rather common now post covid, drs are more familiar with its management. Usually it’s cardiology who manage it.

if the increased fluid doesn’t control it, there is medication that can help. A lot of people respond well to the meds. Hope you get sorted soon

I have a mild form of POTS called orthostatic intolerance. I was diagnosed by tilt table, so get that test ordered. I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome so it comes from that diagnosis. I have found that lots of fluids and salt uptake improved dizzy and fainting spells. Make sure you find a specialist to exclude other diagnoses, as POTS is often associated with other conditions.
