Dry red skin on face

I have developed awful dry red skin on my face over the last few months. I have always had eczema on my hands and sometimes my arms but only quite mildly. I do have an autoimmune condition (Graves disease) and take thyroxine daily. I also have hay fever and chronic hives. The red skin on my face has worsened over the last few weeks.
I can’t wear make up and in places the skin looks raw and angry. I did go to the GP a few months ago when it was not as severe. She told me to use a hydrocortisone cream for a couple of weeks to get on top of it and then use moisturisers but I’ve never been able to get on top of it- it improves slightly and then worsens again. Has anyone had similar and what helped? I am waiting for another GP appointment but I don’t know what else they can recommend. I don’t know what it could be a reaction to - I’ve never had allergy tests but would like to ask for some.

Get some oats, about a cupful. Add some warm water and let them sit for a bit. Apply like a face mask, leave for twenty minutes.

They're extremely good for calming down upset skin. My skin gets very upset a lot, so I often use this stuff on the parts of my body that get angry. Do it every day for a week and see if there's any change.

This was the start of rosacea for me. Get a dermatologist to diagnose and prescribe, if necessary for you. Some things to try in the meantime - have you changed your washing powder? Go non bio and avoid FS. No perfume or alcohol in cleansers, moisturisers etc. Eucerin is good. Keep skin clean, keep routine simple and don't use anything harsh. Spf everyday. Citrus, spice and alcohol can cause it to worsen. You could try some of these tips if you're waiting for an appointment and see if they help.

Is it flaky? If it is, it could be psoriasis. The only thing that got rid of that for me was UV therapy, through an NHS clinic. But it might not be that at all, hard to say.

Definitely see a GP but in the meantime I recommend Eucerin anti redness soothing care for hypersensitive skin.

A common skin disorder called seborrheic dermatitis results in a red rash that frequently develops on the face. As seen below, the rash may make the skin appear oily. Additionally, the skin may seem flaky and dry. What could eliminate the redness: Treatment is typically necessary for seborrheic dermatitis to go away.

@NasirJaveed do you know what treatment(s) are recommended by any chance?

I dealt with something similar and it turned out to be a nutritional deficiency of iron, zinc, and niacin. Have your vitamins checked (particularly your b vitamins) and supplement as necessary. Best of luck and feel better soon!
