My DGD has just been diagnosed - does anyone have experience of this? We are wondering what the future holds for her.

My adult dd copes without much intrusion in her life.. My mil was the first person to have pioneering surgery Back InThe Day. She managed to live a full life until 82!
Tbh dd never mentions it so assume she is fine as she would let us know otherwise for sure!

Thank you - that is encouraging - I am glad she is well.

I have Crohn's disease, was diagnosed at the start of this year. I would recommend looking at the Crohns and Colitis UK website for lots of useful information. They also have a closed Facebook group which is a great source of support with other people, including parents and carers etc. If you pay for membership to the Crohns and Colitis UK society, only £15 a year, you can attend their virtual and in person events which I've found useful.

It’s such a horrible experience hearing the news isn’t it. I think because it’s a disease in which the severity can differ so much you fear the worst. I was diagnosed around 7 years ago and it took me a long time to come to terms with it. However- I am currently on medication and in remission. I’m always aware of what I’m eating and do take better care of myself as stress is a major trigger for me (and a lot of others) bit generally I love my life as normal.

What country are you in?

FatToFitPart3 · 24/11/2022 19:00

How old is she? What treatment have they started?

Sprouttreesareamazing · 24/11/2022 19:53

My dd doesn't take medication.. Still enjoys alcohol - which was a concern for her! And keeps off fruit as they affect it. She is healthy - size 6 - and goes to the gym several times a week.

Thank you for all the information. I will pass this on. I am sorry that others have this disease. My DGD also intermittently has another problem that is thought to be autoimmune - as well as having autism. Lots of challenges but she will have us all behind her willing her on.

Sorry the reason I asked this is because my brother has Crohns and is involved with a Scottish charity who are amazing.

It's certainly beneficial to have a search for one near you.

Hes been involved since he was quite young and they have been absolutely fantastic. They do only operate in Scotland though.
