Eczema/ extreme itching

Hi, looking for some advice / help pls.

For a few years now I've had itching at the tops of my thighs by my groin. Mainly dry skin. But was able to manage myself.
Maybe 2 years ago this extended to itching in my groin/ pubic area, which is almost a constant. Every day I am itchy, usually not during the day but by evening or night it's unbearable.
I often find myself tearing chunks out of my skin through itching without realising I'm doing it.
I went to the doctors several times and each time get a different steroid cream but nothing works.
I've tried dermol 500 soap, dove soap, no soap. Numerous steroid creams, e45, plain Nivea, Sudocream, Childs farm moisturiser and nothing works to relieve it.
I've given myself infections in the past from the itching and just want it to stop.
No STD infections picked up.
I only use non bio and gentle Softner in small amounts.

I'm going to go back to the doctors at the end of the week but any advice on what to ask them to do next as this feels beyond eczema now. I've changed skin colour from itching so much!

Any advice, tips, potions to use would be appreciated!

Ditch the softener. Non scented non bio as well. Fairy works for me. Ariel sets my skin off big time.
only use bath products aimed at sensitive skin- preferably a kids one and not scented
doublebase moisturiser can be great or epaderm Or nappy cream for a bad breakout.
don’t bath/ shower every day. This can really dry out the skin.

my skin flares up the most in the winter

Potentially as well- are you sweating in the area more. Towel regularly to dry off and liquid talc

Have you tried Daktacort? You may have a bit of jock itch. It affects both sexes. Rather like athletes foot but groin area.

Yes have used that as one of the first, helped a little in the beginning and then just flares up again

When you say ditch all laundry products, how's best to wash clothes?

I don't use any products in the shower now other than water or dermol 500 in the affected area. Rest of the body is dove and my shampoo for hair.

I hadn't thought about liquid talc, but can I put it on broken skin? It's red raw and I don't want to make it worse

I don’t use fabric softener it can irritate the skin a lot. I use fairy non bio gel.
don’t use dove for the rest of your body. Just use the one product all over as other products will run down your body and get to the affected area.

i’d say get the skin to heal first ( you’ll possibly need an antibiotic cream if it’s that bad) then use the liquid talc as a preventative. It’s great for chub rub on the thighs too.

also- looser cotton trousers for a while.
