DD(18) had an awful cold start of August, another end of August and another a couple of weeks later.
DD is coughing very frequently and is easily breathless so called her GP, she had a telephone appointment and the GP said it sounds as if she’s asthmatic. DD has been prescribed a blue inhaler.

DD wasn’t given any further advice. She plans to contact the GP when her inhaler runs out, she’s at Uni so if it happens over the Christmas holiday she’ll have to been seen at the out of hours GP at home.
Should DD have some sort of follow up with her registered GP to check that she’s receiving the right treatment?

I had to go back a few weeks later to see if the medication was working.

Was DD not told to make an appointment to see how she's getting on?

I developed 'late onset' asthma after 3 bouts of bronchitis in my 40's. I have both a blue inhaler (for when having an attack- known as a reliever) and a brown inhaler which I have to take twice per day (known as a preventer). The brown inhaler does such a good job that my blue inhalers go out of date having hardly been used. It would be worth following up because your daughter may need to have both...

Thanks for the replies. DD wasn’t offered any further advice or follow up.
DD started to feel more breathless and was woken with a thumping heart yesterday. This evening she felt feverish so took herself to A&E. She waiting to hear back from her test results but I assume it’s not actually asthma as they haven’t given her a nebuliser or any inhalers.
