Any links to specific trainers or insoles that may help this please?

I use these Enertor. They were cheaper from a running shop (Up and Running) than from that link.

Thank you LightUpTheWoods. I need to get something sorted quickly as I go away on Thursday and a lot of walking will be involved.

I also wear Scarpa walking boots a lot.

It's going to be quite warm so I'm also going to try taping it some of the time. I'm sure that will look fabulous with sandals at dinner Blush.

Use a tennis ball to massage vigorously under your foot (heel and arch)

superram · 20/11/2022 20:44

Calf stretches, calf stretches and more calf stretches. Then rolling feet over a tennis ball or frozen bottle of water. Take ibuprofen to reduce inflammation. I use valsole in running trainers and wear vionic, hotter or strive shoes all the time. Don’t even step out of bed bare foot. Essentially wear old lady shoes. It does work though.

The podiatrist recommended Sketchers trainers, stretching exercises and Kinetic. Tape ( see Youtube for instructions on exercises and applying the tape)
God the relief when I finally got rid of it, constant pain is really wearing.

Crocs really helped me

ByTheGrace · 20/11/2022 20:56

Problem is you can spend loads on shoes and insoles, but what works for one, doesn't work for another. It depends on what state your arches are in as to what shape you need.
I haven't found a perfect insole, but wear Crocs inside (don't go barefoot) and my favourite trainers are Asics gel venture. Hoka trainers seem to be the darling of the PF groups, I can't outlay that kind of money though.
Youtube for exercises - calf stretches, toe raises on a step(with towel under toes), taping, rolling on a tennis ball, all helpful but especially calf stretches if your calves are tight. Don't sleep with your feet in an en point ballerina position.

Reading with interest. I'm 4 months in and it's horrible. Starts hurting while driving now too. Can't weight bear on it when I first get up. Can't walk if I've been sitting for any length of time. Feels like the heel is almost "broken". It sucks.

fortifiedwithtea · 20/11/2022 21:29

The steroid injections work great the first time. But with every subsequent injection the pain relief either lasts not so long or not so effective. Until eventually they don’t work at all.

i had it for years. It finally went by itself. But I think I have nerve damage to the soles of my feet. My feet are constantly burning hot. I have taken antii convulsives for years and that is a side effect.

My feet are completely flat. I can’t get proper shoes to fit. I wear Sketchers.

poppym12 · 21/11/2022 14:27

I bought a pair of Skechers arch fit yesterday. Not sure how I feel about them yet (as to whether they're any more comfortable than my usual trainers - maybe a special insole in them would be better?).

I'm trying to get into the habit of not plodding about barefoot and today have settled on an old pair of Birkenstock eva sandals which seem to be causing less pain when I walk.

I've also tried out some tape and will look for a tennis ball. Finding it hard to massage my actual heel as it's so bloody painful!

Hi again. Same here. The pain on the heel when I dig in is awful. I'm trying to wear shoes but prefer being barefoot!!

poppym12 · 22/11/2022 16:46

I've been wearing the Skechers trainers today to see if they'll be ok to walk in. Undecided at the moment. They're not cheap and I really don't like the look of them but if they ease the pain I'll put up with that.

What shoes are you wearing?
