TMI: So my period had being on now for what is after hitting four weeks and is showing no signs of stopping if anything getting heavy. Clots are as big as a golf ball and I am so fed up. I went to see a doctor 2 days ago and he just put me on the pill, which I'm not happy about but he told me to just give it a go. I'm feeling tired, dizzy and sore so I really need advice if anyone has any!

Hi, I’m speechless how can a medical proffesional do that? No tests or scans? Poor you! How r you feeling now

I'd get a 2nd opinion.
Whether you have a blood test or scan, have you had a temperature at all? Even an infection could caused prolonged bleeding. Hope you're OK x

Still getting heavier and I'm starting to feel really bad, as in dizzy and very tired and so cranky! I asked him if that was the typical way to help me over this and he just said yeah pretty much! The more I think about it the madder I get!

Tranexamic acid now to stop the bleeding. Then vaginal examination and perhaps scan. Also blood tests to check if you're anaemic.

This is the second time this has happened in the last couple of months. Unfortunately if I want to see a gynaecologist or anyone else I will have to get referred off him, but he's very humiliating and would laugh in my face if I went back to him again.

You are losing quite a lot of blood if it goes on for two weeks with clots and getting heavier. I would go straight to A&E if the GP is so useless. Or private, if you can afford..

Does your GP surgery not have another GP you can see? In thus case I'd wait until your doctors are shut and ring 111 for advice and see what they say.

Please go see some other gp?

I think there are two things your GP should be doing: blood tests to check for anaemia which is a common effect of heavy mentrual bleeding and which may acount for the dizziness. The second is refer you for tests to find out the cause of the bleeding. The NICE guidelines are here www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng88/chapter/Recommendations

I will ring the GP office today and talk to one of the women at reception to see what she thinks, I definitely don't think speaking to a man who has never had a period is the best thing for me to do a second time when he hasn't a clue!
