What's this on my nail?

LudlowStreet · 15/11/2022 22:29

No pain or injury, appeared about two weeks ago.
And how do I get rid of it?

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 15/11/2022 22:31

Do you know if you knocked it at all?

Blablablaaaaa · 15/11/2022 22:33

Likely to grow out?

LudlowStreet · 15/11/2022 22:33

No injury and no pain.

I've got something like that on my big toe. No pain. I can't even remember stubbing my toe. Looks like a bruise. No idea what it is. I hoping it's growing out very slowly

Keen an eye on it, you can get cancer in the nail bed.

How?
Do you mean wait to see if it goes away or gets bigger?

Off topic but what’s the brown lumpy thing in the background of your picture??

talkingmorenonsense · 15/11/2022 22:41

Get it looked at by your GP.

Jewelanemone · 15/11/2022 22:42

What's that in the background of your photo, OP?!

supercatlady · 15/11/2022 22:42

To be honest the one on the big toe looks more concerning than the OP but if it were me I’d get both checked out by the GP.

CourtneeLuv · 15/11/2022 22:47

The background looks like a knot in the wood of the table with a flash gone off.

BellaPoldark · 15/11/2022 22:50

Second the advice to both the OP and the person who posted the toenail picture to get them checked out by the GP as soon as possible

jtaeapa · 15/11/2022 22:50

I would get it looked at anyway, but it’s likely to be OK. As people have said you can get melanoma under the nail. However melanoma generally looks like more of a line/band.

The toenail pic needs looking at by a doctor.

It's just a bolt on the table 🙂

Thank you all for the useful (if worrying) advice.
Not what I expected to hear though!

You need to get that checked by the GP

manetsmuse · 15/11/2022 23:03

Both of you with the pictures should get checked out by a GP.

Ah, I see 🙂

Thank you to everyone who advised GP.
I did an econsult, with picture and have now been urgently referred for investigation. They say within two weeks, but given the massive shortages in the NHS, who knows.
@sorcerersapprentice
I hope you are still reading this thread and got your thing checked out as well.

I had something similar to the toe one caused by I'll fitting shoes. Only on the bigger of my two feet. I've actually embarrassingly had it twice Confused

SierraSapphire · 17/11/2022 20:36

My DB had a brown patch under his nail that was suspected to be melanoma but turned out to be fungus.

If my recent experience is anything to go by response times for cancer pathways are still pretty good. I had a clinic appointment within two weeks of something showing up in a routine screening and a consultant appointment three weeks after that for test results.

packedlunchlife · 17/11/2022 22:38

My bil had what he thought (or rather was told by a doctor) was a wart appear underneath the edge of his fingernail, it was skin cancer. Really glad you're getting this investigated op
