Tips for trapped wind

I don't normally have problems with indigestion but recently I have been feeling sick everyday when I'm in the office. I feel fine until mid afternoon and then feeling increasingly sick in the afternoon, especially on my long train journey home.

I think it's trapped wind because I can relieve the symptoms with some Rennie when I get home.

I'm not sure what's causing it as I don't feel the same at home. Wondering if it could be rushing my lunch because I'm in the office? I also have a really long day as nearly 2 hour commute each way so it's rubbish feeling sick as well!

Definitely not pregnant by the way!

Peppermint tea and Peppermint oil capsules help me with this - maybe have a cup with your lunch? I also find this happens me if I wear anything too tight around my tummy such as work trousers so I tend to feel better in a skirt. Do you eat the same thing for lunch normally? White bread would be the culprit for me mainly.

Thanks I do wear tights so they could be the culprit! I've never heard of peppermint capsules - I'll take a look.

I've tried a few different lunches so I don't think it's that.

It sounds like it could be acid reflux? When I get this it makes me feel sick. Have you tried taking gaviscon, or something similar, after your lunch?

Thanks, it's weird because I don't feel ill until a couple of hours later. Could it still be reflux?

Yes, I don't get it straight after eating, but a few hours later.

I would try some gaviscon, but also if this is new for you and it continues best to see your GP. When I first started with it, it was found I had H Pylori which was easily treated with antibiotics. That helped settle things down.

Sounds to me like it could either be trapped wind or reflux, so I echo both PP's. Best bet is trying as advised above, peppermint tea or capsules (peppermint is a godsend!)
And gaviscon or something similiar to try the reflux side of things. Try to eliminate one and see what works for you.
Failing that, if it continues and neither work, see the GP. You can then mention to the GP youve tried these things and nithing works 😊 x

sounds like intolerance of some sort. Try excluding dairy and gluten and seeing what happens

Are you stressed at work? Stress is awful for digestion. You mention rushing your lunch, it's important for digestion to eat in a relaxed way and chew your food well. You have a very long commute which I think anyone would find quite wearing. Do you drink a lot of tea or coffee at work, if so it might be helpful to reduce caffeine. Do you use any sweeteners in tea or coffee, these can affect digestion sometimes. For trapped gas Rennie Deflatine might be helpful, as well as pp recommendations. Are you moving about enough at work or sitting for long periods? Just some things to consider but if none of these basic tips help please see your GP.

Thanks, really love work but it's a new role so I guess quite stressful. Thankfully I only have to commute one day per week or wouldn't have considered it. That's why it's weird because I feel fine at home.
