No NHS dentist

We moved a year ago and the area we moved to has no NHS dentists, I've rung every single one within 20 miles on the NHS website and none are taking new NHS patients but all will take private ones. One will take the children as NHS if a parent registers as a private patient. I thought that was the way forward but they've sent me the price list and I just can't afford it, my budget is at its limit. We've not been able to put the heating on yet FFS!

I checked out Denplan but it doesn't cover treatment.

Now, obviously this is a dental funding issue and not something that can be helped, but I have toothache, I suspect I need one, if not 2 fillings. I'm getting to the point where painkillers aren't helping. Is there anything I can do? I'm taking all the overtime I can do around childcare but can't see a way through this in the short term.

Any ideas?

If the OP is struggling to afford a private dentist, I suspect that hopping on a plane to travel to Canada is not a realistic alterative.....

Have you tried contacting your local health authority to go on the 'master' waiting list? That's an option in the area where I live (also no NHS dentists).

You are not limited to area for a dentist. Do you have a relative who has a NHS dentist? Could you travel/stay with them a few days if their dentist is taking on?
Unfortunately if you ring 111 they only deal in dental emergencies and the best you will get is possibly a temporary filling . In some areas they do have a list of practices who will take you on for one course of treatment so may be worth a try anyway.
Keep phoning and say you will take a short notice cancellation and also see if anyone is operating a waiting list.
Very unfortunately more and more dentists are giving up NHS contracts.
