Migraine only subsides when I rub my shoulder?

I have had a headache/migraine since 2 o clock today. Taken paracetomol/ibuprofen and nothing has helped. Feels like pressure behind my eyes and above my eyebrow.

It only seems to go when I dig into the knots in my shoulder. I assume this means it is a muscular headache? How do I fix this? Do I need to speak to a GP?

Hello. How are you feeling this morning? Has the migraine subsided?
I'm tempted to say it sounds like a migraine, maybe a tension one.. but many different migraines can cause pain behind the eye and eyebrow. I suffer with chronic migraines/hemiplegic migraines.
Tightness in the neck and shoulder can definitely cause them, aswell as trapped nerves etc.
If the migraine hasn't gone and you're concerned then there is nothing wrong in talking to or seeing your GP.
Have you tried a warm bath of the shoulder incase there is something there causing it? Anadin relief for migraines and headaches works wonders for my DH if he has a headache or migraine, be it rarely. they may be worth trying if you still have it. They act quite quickly x

Migraine can still be migraine - with all the sensory disturbance, feeling sick, aura - and be hugely influenced by muscles in your neck and shoulders. There's a acupuncture point for migraine at the back of the neck that really works. When I have a mgraine my neck muscles are rigid.

If you have a lot, it is worth thinking about your posture - do you hunch your shoulders a lot? Work at a laptop or computer? Spend a lot of time in the car?

Physio, upper body exercise, a desk assessment, laptop tray are all going to help with the knots in your muscles.
