I'd leave all dairy until she's stopped puking

Bread, toast, crackers, plain rice or pasta?

What would you eat if you were recovering from a bug?

notnowbernard · 29/01/2008 15:38

Forgot to say, am in the same position! Two pukers over the last week!

Lovely, isn't it

mylovelymonster · 29/01/2008 15:41

ah, well, prob chicken soup...I made her some for lunch with tiny pasta flowers in it.....but it put in an appearance a little while after.

Thanks for the suggestion NNB - am making way to toaster right now......

Good luck!

I was just saying to DH how lucky we've been - to just have rotten colds to deal with! Thought we'd missed vom bug.........thank heavens for care mats, that's all I can say. Fed up with scraping goo off the carpet. My DD and DH have been ill so far.....seems to have missed me......
Have yours got over it yet?

DD2 ok now. The day she was starting to 'get back to normal' dd1 started (typical)

DD1 seems to have stopped puking but is a bit flakey and pale.

But...

Both are asleep (rarer than rare!) so I am on MN! Every cloud ...

Hope your dd feels better soon. It's horrible when they're ill, isn't it?

mylovelymonster · 29/01/2008 15:55

Yes....really really horrid...and this is our first experience. Ooops - she's just thrown up again.....so it's a quick change of clothing and we're off to the GP...........toast plan aborted for now.

Good luck!

Poor dd

Tbh, I would just concentrate on making sure she's got enough fluids in her atm.

No milk (unless bf)

Water (sips). If she's not wanting to drink, give her a sponge or flannel to suck, wet toothbrush.

Ice lollies good for fluids too

annoyingdevil · 29/01/2008 16:08

My DD managed to keep eggs down when she first had this. No idea why, everything else came straight up!

mylovelymonster · 29/01/2008 18:30

Hi again - funny you should say that, she had scrambled eggs about an hour ago, and fingers crossed seems ok............
GP quite happy with how she's coping.......oh this being a mum lark isn't all love and cuddles, is it
Big up to all the mums out there dealing with sicky LOs!
Thanks ladies for looking in. A bit of 'sharing' has cheered me up.

i was told to give my ds starchy foods mash potatoe went down well and stayed down

bubblagirl · 29/01/2008 18:48

ice pops great way of getting fluid down slowly as when gulping drink causes stomach to bring it back up

so made lots of water ice lollies and also gave normal ice pops and this worked also with soothing throat from being sick

mylovelymonster · 29/01/2008 19:38

lovely idea bbg! She's not had icepops before........bet she'd LOVE.....might cheer her up...poor ickle mite
