I have noticed a few new moles since the birth of my DD 15 months ago, life has gotten in the way and I'm only just getting round to getting them checked out. One in particular is bothering me as its darker than the others, although small. Another one is a little raised and definitley new. I'm super pale so I know I'm at more risk.

My GP wouldn't see me until December so I've booked myself in for a private full mole screening tomorrow.

I've been scaring myself silly that its melanoma and I've left it too late.

Is anyone else having dodgy moles looked into and wants to support each other?

My OH has melanoma. And his was crusty and bleeding when diagnosed and had grown very quickly - in the space of weeks.

So hopefully your new moles - which sound less worrying - are quite simply new miles.

A full screening is a great idea and if you can afford it something to think about doing every year.

good luck

I've had a few scares. Some have been Bowen's Disease (a very slow growing skin cancer), the others nothing. Good idea to get anything you are worried about checked.

@InTheFourthAtMalloryTowers Sorry to hear about your OH. I hope he is doing ok.

I have lots of moles and been sent on 2 week way pathway previously. All was fine with mine. Well done for getting it checked.

Thanks for the replies. I'm sorry about your OH @InTheFourthAtMalloryTowers I too hope he is alright.

Unfortunately they were worried about the darker one as it looks different to the others so she has referred the images on. So terrified as its been there such a long time I'm worried if it is cancer that it will have spread.

Just got to wait and see now.

Try not to get ahead of yourself @EdgarFrog although I know it's a worry. I've had 3 moles biopsied in the past due to looking a bit funny. Two were completely benign (and did look strange and were new) and the other was displaying early changes (not sure of exact terms) so they went back and dug it all out and took clear margins. The dermatologist told me that the majority of moles they biopsy in the skin cancer clinic turn out to be benign.
Well done for getting them checked. I keep a close eye on all of mine now and make sure to be careful in the sun and always wear spf.

I’ve had a few check ups and even had one mole removed. I was hysterical on the day when they said they were pretty confident it wasn’t sinister but wanted to remove it anyway. They surgically removed the whole thing.

I’d pretty much planned my own funeral when I got a call from the surgeon herself about 6 days later, telling me it was benign.

The dermatologist told me it’s relatively normal to see new moles occur up until age 45, but obviously get anything you’re worried about checked out.

How are you now OP? X

Gosh I'd forgotten about this thread! I'm fine thank you - the photographed the mole and it was reviewed by a doctor, then I had a follow up appointment To see if it had changed and they said it was just a benign atypical mole and to keep an eye, but 3 years on it hasn't visibly changed. Since this I've become very paranoid about sun safety though, and will always wear SPF if my skin is exposed

I defo recommend a full private skin check if you're worried about a mole.
