On going extreme fatigue, odema and sight loss

This has been going on for more than a year now. I have been seen but a neurologist, rheumatologist, had a heart echo and lots of blood Test which mainly come back to normal.

I've been feeling less tired recently but yesterday when driving my elder son School he said he couldn't understand me me because it sounded like I was having a stroke. I felt really tired when driving. In the morning when I woke up up I feel really light-headed and dizzy. I went to lay down at 13:00 in the afternoon I woke up at 4pm, then I went back to sleep at 5 p.m. i went to bed at 11. I then woke up today at 7:30.

Today I have decided to monitor my blood pressure as that's high, and my blood sugars as my hb1ac is normally 40-42.

My BP was 170/120 on waking. Blood sugar was 5.8. I didn't have any breakfast and by mid morning my BP was 168/128 and blood sugar was 5.5 after a tea with no sugar.

I'm under a diabetes/ AMD eye surgeon and I have fluid leaking into my retina from my blood vessels but he says it not AMD. I'm not under any diabetes care. I'm not diabetic and even pre diabetic as my hb1ac is under 42. I'm losing central vision but although I go to the sergoens clinic four times a year there's no plan to find a cause or stop it getting worse.

I have been to the gp multiple times over the last year even complained but there's nothing wrong with me. My face, ankles and hands are alway badly swollen. I went to the gp two weeks ago and he actually made a sad face to me, like my teens do when they trace a tear with a finger down their cheek "boo hoo" type face.

But I'm so fatigued that now I'm sleeping 15 hours a day and slurring words while driving. My BP seems to high, my fasting bloods are never below 5.5. Also I started my period on Monday so I'm.sure that doesn't help.

I'm ready to see a private gp now so I'm going to monitor my sleep, BP and blood glucose this week. Could this just be my BP? Or pre diabetes? I'd like a proper thyroid panel, proper b12, and a diabetes test really done privately. My tsh is around 2.5 I think.

Any ideas what could be wrong? No point saying see the gp. A few of the gps have seen me. My named gp said I need to go on strong anti depressants.

I can’t help with a diagnosis, I’m afraid.

But you do know you need to stop driving? At least until the situation is under control. At the moment you’re a serious car accident waiting to happen. You honestly must make other arrangements for getting you child to school.

Your GP is a tosser, btw.

Is there another GP in your practice you could see. You need blood tests, I would think.

And yes you need to stop driving

IncessantNameChanger · 04/11/2022 16:29

I have had every blood test that a gp can order I think.

Seen a few gps but I must have something on my file saying I'm a nutcase as I always get the same response. Normally my son goes to school via taxi so I don't often drive that far, but as there's nothing wrong with me I can't really justify never driving again. The eye surgeon says my vision is 20-20.

The rheumatologist said I needed referal to to the fatigue clinic but my gp said no, not unless I started more powerful anti depressants. Even if I did crash the car it would be poo pood. I have a forward and rear facing dashcam. Even if I feel asleep at the wheel and caught it on camera my gp wouldn't belive me. If I went in with a severed leg tucked under my arm he would normalise it.

Are you on any medication? How old are you?

NooNooHead1981 · 04/11/2022 17:37

Do you know if you have any problems with glaucoma or any high intraocular pressure?
Are your B12 and iron levels ok?

KnickerlessParsons · 04/11/2022 17:59

DH has posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) which affects his central vision. There's no treatment. It's usually in older people but could you have that?

IncessantNameChanger · 04/11/2022 18:03

I'm 47 on blood pressure tablets. I was on 200mg of labetalol and 15mg of cardine but when I asked two weeks ago if I could change my medication the gp just stopped my labetalol. I queried this and two gps said that's fine ( so 3 gps )

Definitely fluid leaking from my blood vessels into my macular. I see a eye surgeon so he is the top Dr at the hospital. He said its my blood pressure. But gp said as long as its 140/90 that's optimal for me.

Sorry you’re feeling so poorly. If that’s your BP on medication then it doesn’t seem under control. I think you need to go back to the GP for that alone.

LeMoo · 04/11/2022 18:12

Your gp is in no position to refused to carry out instructions from the rheumatologist. I'd contact the rheumatologist and let them know.

I also think if you start sounding slurred as you did earlier then you should go to a&e.
