Child - Eating Fear

My child had a choking episode last week, she didn't physical choke, she managed to clear it down, however since then she won't eat anything solid. I took her to hypnotherapy but that hasn't worked, we are being urgently referred to CAMHS. Has anyone experience this, and did the child over one it. I am worried as that's been a week and she's hardly ate a thing 😓

How old is she? What is she eating now?

Can you slowly build up from liquids to solid food? So, if she's ok with soups and smoothies, try porridge, weetabix. Then maybe mashed potato, bread dipped in soup so it's soggy, etc, then soft fruit like banana, then gradually more solid?

This is very age dependant, but maybe learn together about the mechanism of choking, how to deal with someone choking etc so she feels more confident?

I'm assuming you've tried just serving her absolute favourite food?

She is 8yrs old. I have tried soups, scrambled eggs, smoothies all her favourite foods, McDonald's. She will only eat ice lollies, ice cream and drinks.

She understands that she choked because she didn't chew but it's that part of her sub conscious brain that's trying to protect her. She only ate a small yoghurt at school today.
