Hips so painful I cried at work

As soon as the weather turned even a bit colder, suddenly my hips are unbearable. I feel ok when I stand and move around, but lying down isn't great and sitting brings me to tears.

I feel it in my groin constantly, like a hot tight feeling that won't go. It feels like I need to stretch or pop something but I can't manage, no matter how I bend.

My drive to work takes more than an hour and then I sit for 7 hours at a desk, and I'm just not coping. I feel like I could manage if there were a standing desk to use at intervals, but it's not likely.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and how did you cope?

Well obviously I'm going to have to go to a doctor.

Realistically that's going to take god knows how many days of ringing at 8am before I'm lucky enough to get a phone appointment, after which there will be another wait to be examined and more waiting to have any tests that are needed.

In the meantime I still have to deal with 8 hours working at a computer and 2 hours driving every day. That's why I'm asking for advice on an Internet forum.

Groin pain was one of my biggest problems before I had my hips replaced. I'm not saying that this is what you need, but you definitely need an x ray, because that will at least show whether or not osteoarthritis is present. Good luck.

I'm still queuing for a phone appointment each morning but no luck yet.

I don't know why I didn't think about it earlier but I had my gallbladder removed a few months ago and that apparently affects absorption of fat soluble vitamins like D. So that may well be a problem.

That pain sounds exactly like the pain I had when my hip was fractured. Do you run?

Could it be hip impingement OP? Agree with others than groin pain is normally a hip joint issue so worth getting it checked out. I’ve got bad hip joints but it didn’t really become a problem until I had to sit lots at work. I’ve had replacements but still can’t sit for long before it gets tight. I do lots of physio too (clams, hip hikes, bridges etc) to keep everything working. Hope you get some answers and the pain improves 💐
