DD1 has broken her arm, what will the hospital do?

DD age 9 broke her arm yesterday, right at the top. They can't put a plaster on it, because it's above her arm pit. She has to go back to the consultant tomorrow to see if they can do anything. At the moment it's in a soft sling. Just wondering if anyone here has any idea what they might do for her. TIA

I broke my ankle and it was in a soft cast for about 5 days. They don't plaster immediately because they want the swelling to go down. I'd imagine they'd somehow strap her up to immobilise the arm, like if you dislocate your shoulder or break your collar bone. IME broken bones hurt but the frustration of not being able to do things for yourself is far worse! Hope she's feeling better soon

auntypurple any news?I hope she isn't in to much pain.

auntypurple · 29/01/2008 17:38

Hiya, she is doing really well, and dosen't seam to be in much pain at all. The consultant, said at the moment the break is in line, and they are hoping that it will grow back together as it is. She has another type of sling now and had to go back for another x-ray next week, to see if it's still in place, if not they are talking of wiring it. She is not going back to school for a while now.

I'm glad she isn't in to much pain.I hope it heals without having to have anything done to it,wiring doesn't sound very nice.
I bet she isn't to worried about school, at the moment any way.The bordom soon sets in.

Thanks, she is not worried about school at all lol, she has gone to stay with her nan and grandad, so my hyper 5 year old can't jump on her. I will come back to this thread and update as and when, so anyone else looking knows what happened. Hope she dosen't need it wired either, sounds horrible
