What can I do to relieve sinus pain?

I've had sinus for a week now and it isn't being relieved with pain killers, I've tried everything and it is so so painful, doctors refuse to prescribe anti biotics because I don't have a temp, facial swelling or a cold although I did before this all started!
What can I do to reduce this pain? It is so so bad and I'm miserable with it!

Steroid nasal spray, Sterimar sinus rinse.

Try olbas oil, Vicks or eucalyptus oil in hot steaming water, does help.

Fresh air helps too.

Codeine is the only thing which truly relieves it

some of the YouTube massage things help briefly but it’s marginal. I’ve just accepted that I need to use the hard drugs for 3-5 days to get me over the last few days. But so be careful as it can be v addictive (I’ve not had a problem but aware it can be an issue!)

Is this cocomodal? Because I tried this and it didn't work :(

Yoga inversion postures, downward dog etc, help me enormously.

The only thing that I've found slightly relieves the pain is putting vick on the areas of pain but even then it's only for a short time before it wears off and comes back :(

Sudafed.
Snorting up cold boiled highly salted water.
Stop eating dairy.

poorbuthappy · 28/10/2022 21:27

Hot water bottle on face. Repeat as long as necessary.

BarbaraVineFan · 28/10/2022 21:29

Beconase nasal spray has helped me

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 28/10/2022 21:29

Saline sinus rinse, 3-6 times per day. It’s what my GP recommended and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Aworldofmyown · 28/10/2022 21:36

I find anything like sudafed (the ones with Phenylephrine) make my sinus infections worse. Beconase spray is good, have you tried Ibruprofen? Steamy showers.

LidlCinnamonBun · 28/10/2022 21:39

I heard a vibrator on your sinus can loosen it all up
😘

Quaffee · 28/10/2022 21:42

NeilMed sinus rinse - use it as many times as you need and Otrivine /Sudafed decongestant , the nasal spray ones. These will sort you out very quickly

HopRockers · 28/10/2022 21:47

Neilmed sinus rinse is essential
steam your head & very hot shower on your face also help but it's the neilmed that saved me from years of sinus pain

dementedma · 28/10/2022 21:52

Steam over a bowl of hot water with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. It loosens the gunge so you can blow it out into a tissue. Its helping me far more than the 4 courses of anti biotics have done!
You can also use sage, rosemary or mint if you have these in the garden

newtb · 28/10/2022 21:52

Have you tried massaging the outer upper part of your eye socket with the heel of your hand? .
Also n-acetyl cystéine helps. H&B sell it, as does Amazon. When the weather changed, I take 2 x 600mg capsules to keep it at bay. I've just hot some dissolvable prednisolone tablets which reduce the swelling.
Nac thins the mucous letting it drain. Drinking enough water helps, too.

Eloisedublin123 · 28/10/2022 23:09

The thing that cured my sinusitis forever ( and I had it for a long time) was spirulina tablets every day ( Google it!) you can also use powder and mix it with a liquid and drink it ( think you can buy the powder from grocery stores- the tablets from health food stores)

Pixiedust1234 · 28/10/2022 23:13

Since nasal spray
Sudafed
Boiling water in a bowl, add vick. Place a towel over your head and bowl. Breathe in the steam for 5 to 10 minutes every few hours. Be very careful with the boiling water.

HDready · 28/10/2022 23:13

I find sinutab is the only thing that works for me
