Eye prescription changes don't make sense - wood appreciate a quick interpretation in case they're wrong

I went for an eye test today and I'm wondering if some of the numbers are correct. I didn't take my old prescription in, but have since found it on the side of a contacts box. Could anyone please interpret whether these changes would happen or if I need to go back? Mainly I didn't realise astigmatism would change as thought that was eyeball shape?

Left eye
Old: cyl -1.25, axis 40, D -1.50
New: cyl -1.25, axis 35, sph -1.50

Right eye
Old: cyl -1.25, axis 160, D -2.00
New: cyl -1.50, axis 165, sph -2.50

It can change, you can develop astigmatism as an adult.
See how you get on with the glasses and if they don't seem right them go back

A contact lens prescription is different to a spectacle prescription. Quite often you can only get CLs to the nearest 10 degrees axis.
whereas with glasses you can dictate to the nearest 1.

At these strengths, the glasses and contacts prescriptions won't be very different (apart from, as *Spamfrit says, the axis only being specifiable to, say, the nearest 10°), though with higher prescription strengths there can be quite a difference between the two.

To be honest it looks like the axis is only different because of the contact lens factor, and the rest is ordinary test-to-test fluctuations. Definitely possible for astigmatism to change in adulthood. And it's only half a dioptre.

That quote wasn't supposed to be there 😅 I clicked quote accidentally and I thought I deleted it.

Sorry, only a quarter of a dioptre change in astigmatism!

Thanks everyone. I expect the old prescription I read off the box was a glasses prescription, as I just ordered the lenses myself off the Internet. But sounds like it is likely correct then.
