Pins and needles and weird sensation

Hi all, so for around a fortnight I have been experiencing on and off pins and needles in my left arm and hand. It's sometimes just the top of my arm/hand sometimes all of it. Then yesterday, my right lower arm felt like it had suddenly been squeezed really tight. It was a really weird sensation. I have had numbness in my big toe for a while, just assumed that was flip flops. I'm just getting a bit worried about these sensations, I stupidly went on google and it's saying MS, which is scaring the living shit out of me Sad I haven't got any pain in my neck or shoulders to make me think I've trapped a nerve, and sometimes I don't have to be doing anything for the sensations to start. I do have an under active thyroid, and I take lithium for bipolar (2). Had previous b12 deficiency but not had this tested in a long time. Any ideas? My doctors surgery had no appointments today, shock, but I will be calling in the morning.

I was going to say B12 deficiency or vitamin D deficiency. Both quite common in hypothyroid patients.

I too thought I had MS when my B12 was low. Symptoms Resolved after a loading dose of injections but do come back if I’m overdue my 3 monthly top up injection.

Please pursue this as it could be something as "simple " as vit b deficiency. I have the pins and needles but its linked to fibromyalgia which is an autoimmune condition so don't automatically assume MS.

Please come back and let us know when you find out. Mines getting worse but im getting ignored because "its fibro" 🙄

Wow, could that really cause these symptoms? I'll defo get in touch with my doctor tomorrow, I have scared myself silly on google ffs. Vision has been ok and no headaches out of the norm. Thank you x

I will definitely update. I'm calling first thing cause I'm worrying myself sick here. It really is driving me up the wall, it comes and goes in waves x

Sorry to hear you're not getting anywhere with your worsening symptoms. I find once you have a diagnosis for anything, everything and every symptom or health complaint gets put down to that one illness. So frustrating 😔 xx

Low iron can cause this too. It's a symptom of anaemia and it's how I found out I had it!

Hi, I know this was a year ago, but did you find out what this was please?

Hiya, yes my b12 was so low the machine couldn't read any lower!
Had to have 6 injections over the space of 2 weeks and I have to have them every 3 months now. Can feel when I'm getting towards the end of those 3 months and symptoms reappear!
If you're experiencing similar symptoms get your b12 and folate levels checked x

@RenegadeMasterx b12 is now licensed to be given between 2 and 3 months in this country. If you are getting symptoms back before your 3 monthly jab (and most people do!) you can try asking your gp to give you the injections more frequently. Or, lots of b12 patients inject themselves at home as often even 2 monthly is hopelessly inadequate.

Ooh that is interesting, I was unaware of that!!! I will discuss this at my next appt, really struggle with it come around 6-8 weeks after last jab xx
