Thrush won’t go away?

I am severely immunosuppressed at the moment and developed thrush after a course of double broad-spectrum antibiotics. This was 2 weeks ago, so I finished the meds over a week ago now.

I’ve used the suppositories and the cream, and then bought flucanozole over the counter. It’s still there! I don’t have any itch but am coated in gross white stuff.

Any suggestions? Will it go away by itself?!

Have you tried not eating any sugar? I know that's hard but it will definitely help !

Full fat Greek yoghurt- Fage will do. Eat it to reset your gut biome. And as weird and embarrassing as it might be spread some on a tampon and insert for about 20 minutes a couple times a day. I used to get recurring thrush from the oral contraceptive pill and this was the only thing that helped.

Oral capsule and natural yogurt worked for me when nothing else did

Thank you! I’ll pop to Morrisons tomorrow and grab some yoghurt!

Please don't put food on or in you! It's for safe consumption - orally not vaginally!

Also, have you changed the type of underwear you use? Try loose-fitting 100% cotton underwear washed on the highest heat or try wearing boxers when at home or sleeping. That might help speed up the process.

Did you take 2 doses of Flucanazole? Second dose 48 hrs after first? If not, it wont work.

My DD was told to use plain natural yogurt by the doctor only a couple of months ago. Just spread it on, rather than insert. It really did help.

Honestly I would advise popping to the doctors and getting it sorted from them. If thrush won’t go away after 2 treatments you are supposed to speak to them anyway

Reduce your sugar intake and take probiotics. Antibiotics kill the good bacteria in your gut and affect your system so you've probably got candida. More antibiotics will just make it worse.

That's interesting. I've only seen that advice on internet forums. Never from a medical institution.

The live bacteria that's in yogurt is fine for your gut, but as I far as I understand it that doesn't apply to the bacteria found in the vagina. Two different environments. I wonder if the doctor's been hanging out on the same forums!

Make sure the yoghurt is live yoghurt and plain.. fruit yoghurts contain sugar
which you need to avoid.
If you can, try to get some Probiotics or Prebiotics from a healthfood shop or online supplier, and not things like Actimel (they contain sugars which is counterproductive)
Agree with 100% cotton underwear, and dont let perfumed soaps / shower gels get to the area (i.e in the bath / shower)
