They must be nasty ones

I just have to wait it out until I've finished and get some good probiotics don't I? Any suggestions for dairy free ones?

I understand the need for them but I am not a fan!

What are they and what have they been prescribed for? Believe it or not they are sometimes still given out when not needed, which is why I'm asking for more details. But you have my sympathies. I don't tolerate them well at all

Phenoxymethylpenicillin 250g (4×2 a day)

For a sinus infection (seen on a dental xray after implants)

I'm on day 3 of 5 and my tummy is miserable

I’d recommend biokult probiotics. Pukka Aloe Vera (small glass once a day at least) and simple diet, eggs; salmon, pots.
Avoid sugar, booze, fatty foods:

I had 6 week course of 3 diff antibiotics for nasty bladder infection, that wrecked my gut flora, gave me small intestine bacterial overgrowth and took a year to recover from.

I take Bimuno sachets from boots when I am on tablets like these. Work brilliantly and you pop a sachet in a Hot drink daily.

KatyMac · 16/10/2022 21:45

Thanks
And would you start while I'm still taking them?

Not sure if you meant me, but yes. Start them and you’ll see a difference within a couple of days. Really settles me when I’ve been on antibiotics and antivirals with painkillers. Within a week I feel back to normal digestion.

KatyMac · 17/10/2022 09:24

Thanks @pennee - Bimuno seems to contain dairy so I'll probably give it a miss; so does the bone @Addictedtohotbaths suggested

I have a fairly simple diet anyway and I'd bought some aloe Vera to try but hadn't got round to it yet

Alforex is dairy free expensive but with it. Also actimel have launched a plant based probiotic drink.
But maybe the best thing is to talk to a pharmacist as they can recommend something to help. Far better then any of us.

CreatingHavoc · 17/10/2022 09:36

Ah oh dear, was the infection following an extraction? I've heard of that happening before. I have always struggled with probiotics that contain dairy as well but I found a brand called Living Nutrition that are expensive but very good.

KatyMac · 17/10/2022 21:58

Thanks @Harp1977 I'll have a look

Yes @CreatingHavoc 2 crowns failed over covid and I had to have the roots out and implants in

The antibiotics are really awful!
