What to do dentist fears.

Hi everyone I have a dentistry query - looking for some advice.
both of my upper wisdom teeth grow outwards towards cheek. one of the upper wisdom teeth hasn’t come through fully though. They have caused me no pain before and nothing has ever flagged up at the dentist when they have xrayed me. Said no pain no problem sort of thing.

anyway I was browsing online and something flagged up that wisdom teeth can grow into bone if impacted and you could potentially have to get your jaw drilled into etc for surgery and I just started freaking out! Surely my many dentist trips would’ve flagged this up.

Currently Trying for a baby too so want to make sure my teeth are all good ( no extractions needed etc)

has anyone had or does anyone have impacted teeth that are fine ?
thanks x

I'm a dental nurse and what google has told you it's very rare and extreme. In all my time of being a dental nurse I've never known a case to be like this.

My brother is 40 and has a tooth growing along the bottom of his teeth (only picked up on X-ray). No problems.

If it ain't broke why fix it! If they're causing no problems they're absolutely fine. Just keep on top of your good oral health Smile

Finally! A sane voice! I don't even have wisdom teeth and that sounded scary! Thanks for sharing PinkButtercups !

Getting my upper right wisdom tooth removed tomorrow, it's in the wrong position but the only reason why the surgeon wants to remove it is heavy caries. The one on the other side is healthy and I plan to keep it :)

About the jaw drilled... I don't think that's possible. I had surgery for my lower wisdom tooth, it was half out and the roots were attached to the jaw bone so they had to cut the tops of the roots and then extract them one by one. But it was a very rare case, they even took pictures to show at a conference. And I promise you I didn't feel a thing during the whole procedure, no pain at all. I'm pretty calm about tomorrow's surgery too. Nothing is as bad as Google shows it.

That's what the dentist and the surgeon said to me: if it's not broken let's not fix it. And I am keeping an impacted upper tooth as long as it's healthy

Step away from Google, it will drive you mad.
I have awful anxiety around going to the dentist's/ if my teeth are okay. Just trust what you're told at appts. Good luck with your TTC journey 💜

@LizzieB44 Good luck for tomorrow. I love a complex extraction Blush.

Exactly that. If they're chasing no problems then they can stay put.

Thanks :) I love the sick leave I will get after, staying at home watching Netflix and eating ice cream!
