Tinnitus is driving me insane. Will it ever go away on its own?

I’ve had tinnitus for many years but since hitting my 40’s it has become much more intense.
A few years ago, I had an MRI, nothing found. I also had an appointment with the tinnitus nurse and she told me that tinnitus bothers some people so much that they become suicidal. At the time I was like ‘Ah, no I’m fine, doesn’t bother me at all’ but in all honesty it is starting to drive me slightly bonkers.
I also have tmj disorder and although I have tinnitus on both sides, it’s much worse on the side where the tmj disorder is worse.
Has anyone managed to control their tinnitus to the point it no longer troubles them?

Also, Google 'The Hearing Coach'. I read all her articles and found a lot of comfort in them. She seems like a lovely lady and basically uses mindfulness to overcome the negative effects of tinnitus. I didn't do her course but came very close to it a few times.

DrRuthGalloway I do have dental issues and am having some problems with my wisdom tooth on that side. I’d never given it a thought regarding the tinnitus, makes sense I suppose.
Saladd0dger I am actually going to the surgery this morning for a series of blood tests (including b12) as I have some other health concerns and GP said she would check everything.
I am going through a lot of stress atm StapFooterin it has appeared more regular since I’ve been so stressed.
Sh4rkAttack I am definitely in peri and it’s definitely been worse since I hit 45.
Thanks Whatdoyawannado I will check that out.

Did you get your b12 tested with your ferritin? I had awful tinnitus for a couple of years. Slowly went away with b12 injections

I am on B12 injections but they don’t help. It’s worse now that I get hormonal headaches.
OP - There’s always some form of ‘noise’ in my house as I can’t stand the ‘not silence’
