Insanely itchy forearm

I’ve had intermittent itching on my forearm for around a month now. It’s worse at night but sometimes during the day it also drives me mad. It’s my left forearm and there is no rash but the itch is so intense and almost feels like it under my skin. No matter how much I itch, it doesn’t relieve it. Only cold water or ice takes away the sensation. I’m wondering if this could be neurological as I’ve had weird symptoms previously which were put down to having an overactive nervous system. Advice was to try and de stress!

im not sure if it’s worth going back to the Gp as this is new and incredibly frustrating. I’ve tried antihistamines, anti itch creams etc but nothing but coldness stops the itch 😭

Are you menopausal? That can produce intense under skin itching.

No, I’m only mid 30s and have my hormones tested yearly due to a endocrine issue

I once had bad itching go on for a while and weirdly enough, I think it was caused by an overdose of antihistamines. I took two for travel sickness (one in the morning, one in the afternoon) and forgotten I'd also taken a one-a-day one for hay fever. It seemed to trigger over a month of intense itching with no other obvious cause. Took me a long time to figure out what might have caused it because of course my first instinct was to treat it with antihistamines! So, if you've tried them quite a bit maybe try stopping all treatment for a while and see if that helps?

Could you be diabetic?

Liver issues can cause itching but that tends to be more general and not restricted to one area. I would press for a referral possibly to neurology
