Squinting DS aged 3: worst case scenario? Best case scenario?

I think I have posted on this before but anyway: I can no longer deny that DS has a bit of a squint. I suspected it when he was a newborn but was advised it would probably go away, now it seems to be getting more noticeable. Am going to take him to the clinic to see HV on Monday, but for those of you with squinty DCs, what sort of treatments do they get? And how big a problem is a squint anyway?

madamez, I am 36 and have had a squint since I was about 1yo. I was always able to see fine when I was little and my mum used to tell me to make things go fuzzy (ie/ unfocus) when I got my photo taken so my eyes would be straight! I wore glasses from 1 and had patches and an op when I was 5. When I turned 12 I got contact lenses and they made me focus in the middle so my eyes no longer squinted
My dh says he has never noticed my squint - admittedly because I am normally wearing glasses or contacts - but he does see me without anything and he hardly notices.
I am long sighted and have astigmatism but it really hasn't caused me many problems
