18 year old son's eye. Woke today with a small swelling. Its got bigger. Its a bit tingly / itchy but no other symptoms. Should I whizz him down to Urgent Treatment Centre (he is resisting)

DS1 had cellulitis and it looked just like that. The swelling shocked me - his eye was a bit red on the morning and I thought conjunctivitis. Got a gp appointment for 10.30 by which time it has almost swelled shut. We got fast tracked to the childrens ward, and a week of IV antibiotics. It’s potentially very serious, as other posters have said, it can track back along the optic nerve and cause meningitis. Get him seen asap.

Thanks all.

Doc sent us home from A&E with oral antibiotics because in orbital cellulitis it would normally involve the upper eyelid too. Has told us to come back if it gets worse
