Can you get Chickenpox twice?

I think Ds has it....again.

He was ill on Monday night, high fever, trouble breathing, cough etc. Listless for most of Tuesday, perked up on Wednesday so back to schoool on Thursday.
Only last night he came up with a rash on his face around his cheeks and mouth.
I assumed it was a reaction from his chewing (ASD sensory issues), he's got a tooth loose and chews to disguise the feeling (I think) but it's come up again tonight.
I've checked him all over and it's just on his face from his nose and cheeks downwards.
They are tiny clear blister like spots.

It is chickenpox again isn't it?
He caught it very mild the first time.

Apparently. I got it as an adult and my mum swears I got it as a child. I think it's shingles as an adult though. I was pretty sickly for a while with it.

I thought the answer was no however last year a boy in DS's class had it twice 6 months apart.

fingerwoman · 25/01/2008 20:39

yes, you can. particularly if you only had it very mildly the first time

That's not what I needed to hear!
This'll be a fun week then. He got cabin fever the 2 days he was off this week. God help me. At least there is plenty of chocolate in the fridge.

Sorry you can. A fiend of mine has had chicken pox twice then as an adult has also had shingles twice. Enjoy your chocolate!

This time last year DD1 got it just after her 3rd bithday and was really ill with it - as soon as her spots cleared up and she started getting batter DD2 got it (was only 4m at the time) luckily she was hardly affected at all, so I'm convinced she will get it again bless her.

Ds is almost 6, autistic with very little speech and bordering on hyperactive.
I'll be pulling my hair out by the time he's well again!
It was fun trying to get calomine lotion on him last time. I had to pin him down!
