Mooncup question

Are they supposed to stay where they are? Just bought one and am sure it was in the right position, but when I came to remove it it had gone half a mile up and took ages to grab!

TIA

This has happened to me before, scary isn't it! I tend to put it in quite low down so doesn't really happen now. How long have you been using it?

ladymixalot · 25/01/2008 19:52

It was my first time. Not sure I could have put it any lower tbh - I could feel the stem at first but got more comfortable as time went on - obviously as it moved upwards...

When you remove it, it helps to bear down a bit first as this moves it down so that you can reach it better. A bit of practice and you will be a Mooncup pro!

Mine does wriggle up a bit - depends on how you're designed, I suppose. If you bear down it's easier to get it out.

I have cut the stem right off mine so it can sit a bit lower without feeling anything. Bearing down helps enormously and it's easy to remove without a stem I find.

ladymixalot · 25/01/2008 19:59

Thanks for the replies.
Was surprised it had moved so far. So does that happen to most people then? I have a coil so was a bit worried it would interfere with the strings going up that high. I had visions of having to get it removed and trying to explain what it was .

Ah, x-posted with pruners - I see tis normal. Will try again. Assume bearing down means pushing like when giving birth?

They say it takes about three months to get used to so persevere! (as well as bearing down!)

Bear down! I thought I'd find mine up by my boobs the first time I tried to get it out!

Persevere, I've just done my first month and things were a lot easier by day 7 then they were on day 1.

HaggisNeepsandTatties · 25/01/2008 20:52

Yes that's what it's like - your pelvic floor muscles pulling it up. It happens to me sometimes at night too. After a while you get the knack and work out where it's most comfortable for you. I have completely removed the stem too, and agree with the others that it doesn't hinder removal.

[bears down]
