I have substantial custom made orthotics which make a great difference to me in terms of pain, posture, etc.
I also suffer fatigue and the thought of going shopping in our nearest city and unsuccessfully trying on hundreds of pairs of boots with my two small children makes me feel extremely wibbly.. as I would no doubt actually be for a couple of days afterwards if I was to attempt this fools errand!! Thank the lord for online shopping. But, I also don't want to spend a small fortune in turning unsuccessful purchases.
I wish to draw on the mighty collective wisdom of mumsnet again -which was previously very helpful I think last year when I started buying hoka trainers for the same reason they have been great! Many thanks to whoever it was who recommended them.
I haven't had any boots since I got the full length orthotics because the podiatrist measured my feet and in my late 30s I went up two sizes and had to bin everything... They also have a particularly deep heel cup which means whatever shoes or boots also have to have this. And in many things I've tried on, for shoes anyway, this is where they fall down as my feet are falling out of the heel because of the shape of the orthotic.
I've been living with just trainers and one pair of walking boots since then, but I would so love to have a nice pair of leather boots ( or pleather) that look good with skirts and tights in the winter. I do have a pair of vionic trainers in leopard skin which I was completely thrilled about and these are good for a night out in the pub but not good enough for walking about and doing the more stuff.
Maybe nice looking trainery boots?
Has anyone tried orthotics in something like Dublin River boots if that's the right name?
On an older mum's net thread, someone recommended horsey short Chelsea boots, I forget what they're called. I reckon this would suit me very well, But what brand would I be looking for?
I used to live in a couple of different pairs of chestnut brown boots. I thought they looked great with either jeans or brown tights. At the moment I'm either wearing my white trainers with slightly short jeans and getting cold ankles or my walking boots with woolly socks, but they're not very pretty.
Many thanks in advance!
