Sudden lights in eyes!

Anyone know what this could be and whether I need to do anything? It’s a flickering light in a c shape with patterns on it. It’s in my line of vision in both eyes. If I cover one eye it is still there in the other. It’s very bright and getting bigger. I initially thought it was a drop of water but it isn’t. Apologies for any typos. I can’t see the screen properly.

Yes I get these aura migraines. Sometimes just the aura for half an hour and no headache. I was scared the first time I had it but I’m used to it now. Not good when driving though as you have to pull over for half an hour until it passes.

Sounds like a silent migraine. I get them, so does my dad. I’ve had them checked but they’re fairly common. Usually last 15 ish mins.

mine starts as a sun blind spot (as if you’ve caught the sun shining off a car) and then gradually gets bigger, in a c-shape with zig zags, until it works it’s way out to my peripheral vision.

scary at the time but the more you have, the more you know the oattern

mine is connected to hormones and stress levels. Had them lots when pregnant.

Like this?

i get them. I’m ok while it’s happening, but then feel as if I’m drunk for several hours, then hungover for about 24 hours. Also increased urination for around 24 hours. I now know to get horizontal before the aura ends, and sleep through - usually about 18 hours solid sleep before I wake up very groggy.

Right they seem to have gone. They got larger and larger and eventually it was like it went outside of my field of vision. Really weird. No headache.

Yes that's exactly what happens. Weird ring of blurry lines that gets bigger an bigger until its gone. Usually with Nan hour or two. Had them for years. It's an optical migraine as others have said.

A&E sucks, I’d suggest you go to a good optician asap. But I’m pretty sure everyone is right and it’s a silent migraine, I’ve had same thing. Have you done any increased exercise? I got mine when I did the couch to 5k jogging course and then lifted some weights. Optician said she sees a lot of middle aged rugby player with same thing.

It sounds like a classic example of a visual migraine. They do not always lead to the head pain.

You absolutely need to see your GP if you've not got a history of migraine already but it's not an A&E job now.
