Found headlice the other day. Child mention itchy a bit a couple of days after going to hairdressers but then didn't mention again had said on way to school and forgot to look at hair . Then this week said itchy and looked and found a large creepy crawly and then bug busted and found about 6 big ones and lots of black eggs. Have got rid of all and will be bug busting every day for about 2 weeks. Feel so guilty sould of checked earlier. Can the big ones do any harm had a bit of a rash on back of neck How long do you think they were there FEEL SICK

Hey don't feel at all guilty! You've done excatly the things you should.

I think most of us are fighting the good fight against these vile little blighters.

I'm always prowling about like mummy chimp through my lot's bonces but you cant be doing it morning noon and night you'd drive yourself and the dc nuts.

Thankfully you found them after going to the Hairdressers. The Hairdresser found some in my DD's hair during a cut and had to quietly explain she couldn't continue. I was so embarrassed. They're nasty little things.

maltloaf · 25/01/2008 11:28

Do you think they got them from the hairdresser

Highly unlikely they are from the hairdressers. Much more likely from other children at school.

Its horrid isn't it ?

Just wait till she catches threadworms now that is yucky !

pigsinmud · 25/01/2008 11:42

Whend ds1 was in reception we were not experienced at the healice thing ..... at Christmas checked hi hair and he was absolutely crawling with enormous headlice. It was awful and thought nothing could be as bad ........ dds 1 & 2 had threadworms a few weeks ago and that beat it for yuk factor!

At least you've found them and sorted it and I'll bet you're never caught out again!

maltloaf · 25/01/2008 11:49

why do you feel guilty?if its anything to feel bad about im an awful parent.youve treated your dc and will continue too.
its the people that know theyre dc have them but dont bother that does my head in(ds1 best friends mum for instance!)

Well I guarentee you are already itching at the moment.... but be warned ....

typically if you have threadworms you have an itchy bottom (especially at night)

there are loads of 'threads' (excuse the pun) on here in the archives if you can bear to read more
