What does your GP say about the results? They’re all normal with no context.

paintedsmile · 26/09/2022 08:51

Gp does says all normal.I thought they are on the low side and wondered if supplements were needed.

B12 is too low, folate is too low, ferritin looks OK, TSH is meaningless on its own and doesn't tell you what's actually happening with your thyroid.

I'd start with a good B complex, one that includes methylfolate rather than folic acid, as it's easier to absorb.

Posted too soon. Meant to ask how you feel?

paintedsmile · 26/09/2022 09:28

I feel terrible. Currently seeing cardiologist because of palpitations and ectopic heartbeats. Have no energy and feel dizzy and off balance all of the time and very anxious which of course isn't helping. Thanks for your reply and suggestion.

I try and eat raw broccoli every day for iron but I also have Flurodex and high dose Vitamin C on hand (which helps absorb iron) for when I don't get my intake of daily raw fruit and veg. I use a nutribullet to whizz them up because I like to get raw fruit and veg every day, it's an easy way to do it as well as with salads that I have at lunch.

@paintedsmile, then either your GP needs to dig deeper, or you need to splash out on private testing. That's what I had to do in the end, with symptoms similar to yours.

It turned out that although my TSH looked good on its own, there was a disconnect between pituitary and thyroid, so my actual thyroid hormones were very low and treatment with thyroxine has been life changing.

GP's will tell you to f off in a polite way as all within range.
However, B12 and in my experience when in the lower range well within the lower range I feel shitty. I'm a male and take tablets. We are all different.

See you GP again if you wish and before you do write down concise points re how you feel and he/she may investigate further. At times just reassurance works but not always

Always be careful even when you take over-the-counter vitamins etc consult a gp/chemist
