Children's Nurofen on an empty stomach?

Would this be okay?

dd has a temp of 38.5, highish but not so bad. She is 6.8 and a very slight build. She is a bit shivery and feels cold even though the heating is on.

I try not to give nurufen at night when the stomach is totally empty, but I do give it in the evening as long as they've had a little bit to eat.

I have no medical knowledge (disclaimer!) but have had discussion with dr previously about child nurofen on empty stomach (as it says with or after food on the bottle doesn't it?). Dr told me it was more important to get the temp down than worry about a mild upset tum that could (not definite) result in doing this occasionally.

However this was for temps > 39

I'd say if concerned about temp then give her some, otherwise pop her in bed.

I would give her calpol first and see how she goes with that

I gave Nurofen in hte end.

She has eaten today (just not dinner - her favourite too!). But her temp went up to 39 half an hour later, hence the Nurofen and she's now in bed

It's been a rubbish week healthwise.

Thank yuo all.

GP said nurofen on an empty tummy is fine occassionally.

It can actually work quicker on an empty tummy so on occassions it can actually be preferrable.

Shoudln't do it too often though.
