Anyone being treated for Osteoporosis

Just wondering if anyone here is being treated for Osteoporosis? One doctor suggested prolia injections but I think I'm going to try bisphosphonates first. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of either. It's hard to find a good day to take the tablet since I need to stay standing after taking it and I dont know how I'll feel after it. Thanks

You don't need to stay standing. People I know who take it sit up straight after taking it, or walk around normally. Just don't lie down or slump.

Hi, no you don't need to stand up! I take mine (Ibandronic Acid) once a month. I get up early 6ish on that day, fill a huge glass of water, take tablet, refill the glass and go and relax for an hour. I sit upright on the sofa with cushions at my back, and have my kindle, ipad etc at the ready. The time goes very quickly, and I'm then ready for breakfast at my usual time.

I was also offered Prolia but refused, and the consultant agrees I can stay on the tablets. It is your choice. Good luck!

Not sure my first reply was clear. After taking it, you just need to sit up straight for at least 30 minutes, to make sure it goes down properly.

I take Alendronic acid first thing on the same morning once a week. I swill it down with a large glass of water either carrying on with my usual activities but avoiding bending over, or sit down, either way for at least thirty minutes. I have had no side effects at all. You need to tell your dentist and maintain good oral hygiene due to rare complications, but my dentist says lots of her patients are on AA and she has not witnessed any problems.
I have also made lifestyle changes, increasing weight bearing exercise, changes to diet etc.
The Royal Osteoporosis Society have lots of useful information: theros.org.uk/

Thank you. I'm a bit nervous of side effects so that helps.
