Dental implant?

Hi,
Since I turned 40 10 years ago my teeth have - literally - fallen apart.
I've lost 2 teeth to failed root canals (back molars) and now it looks like I'm losing another (half of the tooth has come away today...)
It'll leave a large 2 tooth gap on the upper left side.
Have any of you had similar implants (x2) and did you need a bone graft?
Was it awful? :(
Thanks!

I have an implant with bone graft on one molar.
It wasn't awful at all, and I don't even think about it now, that tooth might as well be a home grown one.

It did take about 9 months, start to finish, allowing for healing time between processes, but it was very well managed throughout.

Thank you
I'm going to try and get an emergency appointment at 9am...
May I ask how much it cost? I get the sense it's quite spendy! 😬😬😬

Hi, I have 2 implants…next to each other. Both bottom molars. Like you, failed root canals and crowns. Eventually, there was barely any of those teeth left.
I didn’t need a bone graft, but was only about 35 when I had them done.
This was about 15 years ago, did have a problem when pregnant both times where the implant rejected but this is very rare.
Fortunately, the dentist fixed this without extra charge.
You are right in saying it’s not cheap. Even 15 or so years ago, the cost was about £2k per tooth.
A bit of a long process and you have to be very careful with dental hygiene forever. But worth it!

I have a couple of implants - front teeth.

They were crowned before my first pregnancy due to a root infection, pregnancies resulted in the need for recrowning and they finally collapsed.

Yes very expensive, but honestly I'm glad of them every day. No regrets at all over the money.

Well, I'm 50 soon, so no more pregnancies for me :)
Glad it all worked out OK for you.
My concern is more problems/issues than cost tbh
My teeth are a nightmare. Had to have all 4 impacted wisdom teeth (plus another) out when I was 21.
I've got loads of fillings (too many sweets as a child!)
I'm wondering of there's a way to have 2 teeth on one implant?

I'm not keen on the idea tbh but I don't think I'll have much choice.

I'm about to have this. I lost three bottom molars with failed crowns etc. My NHS dentist referred me to specialist. I've had specialist x rays to check nerve and bone, he says bone is fine and he's going to consider options...either one implant one post or two posts and two teeth or possibly three on two posts. He's going to check measurements etc as forward one a bit close to nerve and then I can decide. It's about £2500 per implant and I've already spent about £300 on appts and diagnostic splint etc,

You can have 2 teeth on one implant! I am just starting that process myself. It’s costing £3750 including removing a tooth, temporary denture while that heals etc.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/09/2022 10:45

Mine was about 12 years ago and cost roughly £2k, so not cheap, but I paid for it in bits as I had each stage done.

Thanks all
Emergency appointment after lunch :(

@Chevyimpala67 hope your appointment went ok. I sympathise, I have rubbish teeth. They look great, but easily break, have had gum problems which the dentist couldn’t understand as my dental hygiene is excellent.
Despite looking after my teeth really well, last time I went I needed 3 fillings!
The one wisdom tooth I had randomly started playing up after 25 years and I had to have it removed. It is so annoying…. And expensive!

NecklessMumster · 24/09/2022 17:51

I've had letter back from dentist after he's considered scans etc....he said either 2 teeth on 1 post at £3000 or 3 teeth on 2 posts at £5000, I'll have to get a loan and need to decide if third molar necessary 🤔
