NHS provision in the south west

I have an immune condition which has regular 6 monthly checks to monitor it because it can turn nasty. We are on the verge of moving to mid Devon and I just read a post on local social media about the paucity of care in Devon. I have read reports about the NHS provision being poor in the West Country but what I've just read is truly shocking.
I'm under haematology/blood cancer departments where I live. I'd be really grateful if anyone in the south west has any comments. The NHS is collapsing everywhere of course but I do have a good GP and provision here seems good. Many thanks.

have You looked to see which is your closest hospital? Plymouth and Exeter generally offer the more specialised services. As you say it’s difficult time in healthcare Devon is no different.

I have experienced good care in North Devon, been referred promptly for scans and had 2 hsyterscopy', and possibly about to have a 3rd following a scan tomorrow. I phoned for a gp appointment a couple of weeks ago and was booked in for a phone call in 10 days.

I phoned the receptionist and asked for one sooner she was fine and I had one 2 days later. The gp did say there was a 9month wait for scans but because of my age and menopausal bleeding I was referred quicker I guess.

Thanks for the replies. Exeter would be the nearest hospital. A 9 month wait for scans! Wow, I hope you get good care hedgehogscrossing. There are good stories amongst the bad, I'm hugely grateful to NHS staff who keep slaving away. Bloody Tories, never mind Devon, I suspect France is a better bet all round.

I have annual appointments with a rheumatologist at Plymouth for an auto immune condition, with access to a specialist nurse whenever I need. Mine is pretty much monitoring rather than active tests/ treatment and the service I have received has been fine.

@notsosoftanymore thank you! There are many hospitals in Exeter, including a womens Hospital.
