DD13 suffering with horribly heavy periods, think she would benefit from a decent daily multi-vitamin with iron - I've bought some Vitabiotics Wellteen but she's really struggling to swallow the HUGE tablet each day. Any suggestions for good alternatives? Can't find a gummy teen alternative or a chewable tablet that reviewers don't describe as rank. The children's gummy iron tablets have such small doses in them she'd need to several each day plus a multivit - trying to keep it as simple as poss.

I've just got some on prescription from the GP for my DD. (She has heavy periods, had blood tests and her iron was borderline low.) They are pretty small and easy to swallow (and free!)

Prior to that she tried liquid iron, but even adding to OJ (which helps absorption) she didn't like the taste.

^^ on re-reading I see I missed the part where you asked about a multivitamin, I just saw heavy periods and 'iron'!
Sorry, I don't think my advice is quite right then.

Floradix or we use the better health iron 10 spray as we found iron supplements disagree with DC and cause their stomachs to be all messed up. The spray is supposed to bypass the digestive system and be absorbed straight away.

But I'd get her iron levels checked as if she's low she needs a much higher dose over a few months to restore them before going onto a maintenance dose.

Mine have Bassetts chewable vitamins age 12-18. I buy them in tesco when they're on 3 for 2.

Thank you - it seems you can take Bassetts Woman pastilles from age 12 up and there's also another gummy product BeLive Iron that fits the bill - going to give those a go

Have you/she tried Iron Fizz from H+B?

Soluble tablets, pleasant taste and contain Iron, B + C vitamins and minerals. A good all rounder and easy to drink too.

If you think she might have low iron, it’s best to get her iron levels checked.

I’ve just been prescribed some iron tablets and they’re 60 times the strength of normal supplements so if she does have low iron then a normal supplement won’t be enough.

Get her to the doctors and have her iron checked. Also they can prescribe things to help with heavy periods. If she has anaemia she will need more than over the counter supplements. I have long term anaemia and I take 210mg ferrous fumerate long term.
