And often a bit of a horrible taste in mouth, and a weird ‘dry’ feeling. Any ideas?? I feel like it could be diet related but not a clue where to start with what or why…getting pretty fed up with it !

Iron deficiency is what caused mine

HotelKettle · 10/09/2022 20:26

Coeliac disease

WitchDancer · 10/09/2022 20:27

I too get a lot of ulcers when I'm low on iron. I don't recall a dry mouth though.

Also get GP to check your B12 levels. A deficiency can cause mouth ulcers!!

ChangePlease · 10/09/2022 20:44

I don’t know anything about coeliac disease and didn’t know mouth ulcers were a sign, will look into yhat

I take a B12 supplement so doubt that can be deficient?

I have been anaemic a few times before and was a lot when pregnant- will ask for a test or maybe just go back on the meds I’ve got left over

Folic Acid is good for stopping mouth ulcers.

I had something similar....was eating strawberries daily. One week we couldn't get strawberries so I didn't eat them. The ulcers went! I no longer eat strawberries. I now don't get ulcers. Bizarre!

ChangePlease · 10/09/2022 21:33

@pizza1234 that’s so strange! Although thinking about it, maybe I’m the opposite - no strawberries this week and the ulcers are terrible!

My ed used to get them a lot. We assumed it was due to the meds she was on for chronic pain and she used a very expensive mouth wash (about £10 from Boots) which helped a bit. It wasn't until she realised she had an issue with dairy and went on a lactose free diet did it help. When she realised she was actually allergic to dairy and gave it up they have pretty much gone. Might be worth a look and cutting it out for a bit to see if that helps
