Has anyone been diagnosed with coeliac disease?

I have, in 2020.
It was recognised as I was extremely tired. I went on to experience many more strange symptoms.
Dizzy, couldn't swallow, lost weight, anxiety, extremely tired. Even after 2 years of eating a gluten free diet, I struggle with the above.
Apparently it can impact cognitively. I'm so much slower in regards to information processing. I can't sit in noise, I hate traffic, it makes me anxious, my head feels physically fuzzy on times, I'm forgetful.
I'm a nurse so I'm thinking I need to change career.
Has anyone experienced this?

Are you still experiencing symptoms even after going on a strict GF diet?

My son was diagnosed as a 2 year old, but once he went GF he recovered fairly quickly.

It can take a while to fully recover, but after more than a year I wouldn't expect you to still have issues unless you're still accidentally ingesting gluten from cross contamination etc.

I'm glad to hear your son has been symptom free. That is what I expected too. However, apparently if it is picked up later (without you knowing you have it), it can impact cognitively. My only symptoms were feeling tired. I was tired all the time as a single parent/working/studying. It got to a point I couldn't cope.
I'm feeling the impacts this long after.

My partner is coeliac, he was diagnosed in his late 40s. He now only suffers the symptoms you describe when he's been glutened, even mild cross contamination affects him like that (to the extent that I am also 100% GF as otherwise he gets contaminated from kissing me - even if I've brushed my teeth/washed mouth out etc)

If you're absolutely sure there is no source of cross contamination you could be exposed to on a regular basis (eg as a nurse - some medicines contain gluten (as I'm sure you know), beauty products, children/partners, contamination in the kitchen from using sieves/chopping boards/ovens etc) then it sounds to me like you need further investigations.

I know that things such as B12 deficiency, iron deficiency etc can go along with coeliac so maybe get full bloods done and go from there? Apologies if you've already done all that

I'm coeliac and get these symptoms when I've been 'glutened' - but Coeliac is also closely linked with thyroid illness (and diabetes) - have you had thyroid/diabetes tests? I also have thyroid issues and can get very tired/low if my thyroxine levels aren't right.

Yes and iron deficiency is definitely another - I was horribly anaemic before being diagnosed and for a good few years afterwards - all good now, but I'm 14 years down the line! So keep getting regular iron levels tests too.

Dc still had symptoms and was referred to immunology (after they'd ruled out cross contamination) and had lots of tests. Eventually was diagnosed with refractory coeliac disease. Now medicated and tube fed is so much better. Worth getting a referal/second opinion.

There's a great doctor in Sheffield (my friend is under him) called dr David Sanders known around the world for his work on coeliac disease.

I had a double camera inspection recently due to stomach pain, anaemia and raised inflammatory markers. I already have an under active thyroid, mid fifties (periods stopped a goodly while ago) and I have been anaemic for years.

I am experiencing stomach pains like cramping really painful (more and more frequently and more intensely). I have had smelly toilet trips just one visit a day for quite awhile but no weight loss and no diaorrea

I had a coeliac test this week and waiting for results (I am also under a lot of stress at the moment). Not sure what the results will show.
