Colonoscopy expected timeline?

Last Thurs I posted off my bowel screening sample.
Today I had a letter saying that I screened positive so will need a colonoscopy.
It makes clear that only 5% of people who have this procedure have cancer & that it is most likely a polyp which can be removed. All very reassuring.

But it does say that 'under normal circs we would contact you to arrange this but due to Covid 19 there will be a significant delay, in the meantime contact your GP if you have symptoms'.

I don't know what I am asking really & I don't want to be a drama llama.
But both my partner & my last parent died of cancer in the last 6m.
My parents cancer was 'missed' despite it being utterly overt.
Nowt I can do but sit & wait & try not to fret etc.
But I've been waiting for my sleep apnoa study for over a year now (dx in past, lost weight, was told would 'fix' it, but hasn't so life badly affected - asleep during day - driving must be carefully planned - whilst I wait for CPap machine to be re-issued) I guess it's good they will investigate in time. But its one more thing ...

You should hear relatively soon as early intervention means less treatment. Why don't you phone the hospital and ask their timescales..

I saw a gastroenterologist two weeks ago and am being referred for a colonoscopy. It is non-urgent (although I obviously have blood in my stools), he said it would likely be around three months for an NHS appointment, although I have not heard anything yet, so it may well turn out to be different.

I was referred non urgent and only waited a week

I have waited 10 months for my follow up colonoscopy, but I could have done more to chase it up and I didn't (for many reasons). If it's going to cause upset and distress I'd give the waiting list department a ring and try to find out what the waiting times are.

Wow there must be a real difference between NHS trusts . I’m in Scotland.

Thanks all.
Yes, calling would seem the obvious answer (I think I just froze due to my recently departed Mother's experiences which were genuinely awful - an Inquiry is being opened I understand)
The letter came from the central hub in Dundee. I called my local hosp as advised but it's an answerphone which says they 'aim to reply to your call within 10 business days'. So, hopefully I'll get more of an idea of timescales then.

I got a call back today. A 'further screening' (?) phone call next Thurs.
Then, probably, a colonoscopy in 6-8 weeks. Helpful to know as I felt rattled.
(My late Mother's 'missed dx' experience has obviously affected my confidence)
