I am a childminder.I have a ds of 4 and a dd of 10 months.
I childmind for a baby of 8 months Tuesday to Friday from half 7am til 4ish (1pm on a Tues)
I take my ds to playschool in the car for 9am and then collect him at 11.30.I then drive 10miles away (daily)to go to a friends house to care for her son also of 3years at her house until half2.
I give everyone lunch there which I take myself and prepare or serve depending on what we are having.
I then go home and do the usual house work, prep dinner, play with kids, tidy up etc.
My dh goes to college on a Tuesday and Thursday 6-9pm.When he does get home from work in time he does put our ds to bed.
I go running 3-4 nights a week at my local track for half an hour to an hour.
Is this what everyne else does?
Am I doing alot?
Im feeling so tired.
Im struggling to keep on top of general things like washing.
Im also fed up with it all.Im finding it so boring.
Does anyone else struggle?

It sounds as though you are doing loads!!! I always think that CMs are fab - doing a job I just couldn't do, even though I adore my dcs.

Have you always been this busy as a CM or is the tiredness something that has come upon you suddenly?

Everyone I know feels tired and run down at the moment - the endless grey skies, the constant fighting off of bugs, the business of Christmas. It could just be that, but if it's ongoing and unusual, it might be worth mentioning to your GP.

Hope you feel better soon.

You sound like Superwoman to me.
I don't do half the stuff you do and I'm always knackered.

lailasmum · 22/01/2008 20:07

could you try something more relaxng for exercise maybe like swimming/Yoga? Then go back to running when the nights draw out. Or maybe try to vary the things you do in your free time.

FrayedKnot · 22/01/2008 20:16

I wouldn;t be able to do what you do.

I think possibly some of it depends on your age. I've found over the last decade, what I can manage has reduced drastically! When I was 28 I could go out and party two nights in a row and barely bat an eyelid. Ten years later it takes me a good week to get over the odd night out.

Feeling bored can also be tiring in itself. Do you enjoy childminding, or would you rather be doing something different if you had the opportunity?

mum2oliver · 22/01/2008 20:32

Its not nice really to say but I would rather do something else.I feel ready to go out to work now but cant.I just wouldnt earn enought to warrant paying the childcare I would have to pay.
My ds starts school in Sept may be could do something then.
I just wanted someone to say-yes thats a lot as dh isnt great at realising that I actually do work.
He comes in from his work and its sort of the end of his work for the day but mine doesnt have that ''end''.The 8month old baby gets collected and it doesnt make alot of diff as I still carry on with my own.

How do I move this over into the childminding section too?

You're doing a lot.

Your story reminded me of when my thyroid problems started - I went from cycling 100 miles a week and dancing twice a week, as well as working, to hardly able to get out of bed in the morning. I got very depressed too.

If it continues, get to your GP for some blood tests.

M2O - would be worth seeing your GP for an MOT - might simply be low on iron, but go get checked x
